Back in Bellingham WA. We spent about a month here last year dealing with a bike-replacement which involved a complete warranty and rebuild on my old ride. It was a good place to have such a big problem. It’s a great feeling to be back. It’s like coming home. But it’s cold, rainy and fall…already! Trees are turning and leaves falling.
I had a ridiculous-fun first ride here yesterday. I ended up connecting with another guy riding alone. We were cruising along the same trail the same way, so we just introduced ourselves and spent the afternoon ripping around…we had a great trip on Galbraith mountain. Some interesting challenges were ridden. I got talked into doing this big 6+ foot rock roll on the bottom of a trail called SST…this one:

It’s pretty steep, sorta hard to tell on that angle, but you really can’t see the whole move from the top, it’s just a blind leap. Pretty freaky in the head, but easy technically. I recall that I saw it last year (on my borrowed bike) and it seemed totally impossible. No hesitation this time…I told this other guy that he was a bad influence. He protested and said he is a good influence. I guess I’ll concede that one. The other rider, Nat, was a hoot to rip around with. Great guy, great rider, great tour guide. Hopefully we will ride again.
Got a few more leads on some rides near Seattle…
