Our friend Steve from Ontario flew out and we joined him and Scott for a ride, at Smith Creek, near Kelowna. (Scott is another Ontario transplant who now lives in Kelowna.) The Smith Creek trails are his favorite local ride and he was a great guide and host for us all.

But I’m jumping ahead. That was actually Day 3 in Kelowna. Backing up a bit, we drove up to the Okanagan via rainy Vancouver. We got a chance to look around Kelowna where Lucy used to live. And we even met her friend from Grade 3 for a reunion!
Then, the van went in for a small repair or two.
Also, we rode at Crawford. Crawford had a big fire about 15 years ago and it’s really pretty bare and eroded now, with lots of loose rock on the trails. But there are a ton of black-tail deer up there. I saw about 10! There are some cool slabs on the mountain too. The upper trails were spared in the fire and it’s a totally different world up there.
